ITPSS Staff Learn More About Gift Policy

A total of 55 staff members from ITPSS Sdn Bhd attended a 'gift policy' talk aimed at raising awareness on the handling of gifts in the private sector.
The talk was delivered by Senior Special Investigator Hjh Nurul Ashiken Hj Mat Salleh and Assistant Special Investigator Siti Norkhalijah Safar of the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB). The presenters spoke on the laws and regulations governing the public sector, as well as the private sector, with regards to the handling of gifts received.
The receiving staff is urged to evaluate any gift given to them or to their family. so as not to commit any offence under Regulation 12(a) of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations, Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131 ) and Penal Code (Chapter 22).
Based on the aforementioned laws and regulations, the ACB officers further explained that staff members may receive gifts given to them by close relatives or personal friends, but that it is an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131) and Penal Code (Chapter 22 to accept gifts that are given with dishonest (corrupt) intention or to accept gifts from anyone with whom they have official dealings.
