Brunei’s premier computer hacking competition Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag, is slated to return early next month. This marks the fourth rendition of the annual competition which is the brainchild of local IT security firm ITPSS Sdn Bhd, and has seen a steady increase in participation over the years, with 26 teams competing last year.
Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag is open to anyone residing in Brunei Darussalam, but they must join the competition as a team of 2 or 3 members. Participants will be presented with challenges in cryptography, exploitation, digital forensics, packet analysis and web-based attacks, and will race against time to solve each challenge to obtain a secret key known as a “flag”. The flag is then submitted to a dedicated score server and the team is awarded points for each verified flag. The team with the highest points will win the competition.
The online qualifying round will be held on 29 July, and the top 10 teams will move on to the finals on 4 August at Wafa Hotel, Annajat Complex. The final round will be a full day event where the hackers will get to compete and face their opponents in person. Cash prizes of $3000, $2000 and $1000 await the top 3 teams.
